Today we meet again for the third part of the guide to social networks!
Currently in France we are confined, some can not exercise their activity, but that leaves you time to launch or develop in the digital.
Hoping that these articles will help you in your daily life.
The Spotyride team wishes you a good reading!
Facebook is one of the leading social networks with 2.74 billion monthly active users in 2020. Since 2004, Facebook has been an international success. Very used by professionals, it allows them to stay in touch with their community and to entertain them.
In this article we will not see the part of using the tool, we will look at the best way to use it as a link with our community.
If you would like an article on the more technical side of Facebook, don’t hesitate to tell us in comments!

Everything starts with the creation of your page:
open to all if you want maximum visibility, or private if you want to include only your most loyal customers or members important to your business, but we’ll imagine that your page will be public.
After creating this page, you will have to fill in some information. IMPORTANT: fill in all this information well if you want to attract new customers!
- address, business phone number, link from your website or Spotyride page, to the Spotyride online shop, add the team members if they want.
Visitors will pay more attention if they know they can get the crucial information.
You can also link your account to your other social networks Instagram , Pinterest . (on which we have written articles)
You also need to be recognizable at first glance, a logo on your profile picture, striking colors that look like you. Your page should scream your name.
Use a nice cover photo showing your spot, shop …
Once your page has been created and perfectly reflects your image, don’t hesitate to share it with your friends and especially with your customers. If they are satisfied, they will share in turn and the information will circulate very quickly.
Don’t hesitate to show visitors of your store, spot or other that you have Facebook! Put the link of your page on your business cards, talk about it, invite them to join you.
Also put the link to your page on your other networks. A community can vary from one network to another. The goal is to increase your overall visibility, so it is best to show that you are diverse.
Always encourage your subscribers to share your Facebook page with a little reminder at the bottom of your description/content or at the end of your videos
ex: “like and share if you liked the video”.
As far as content is concerned, your page is yours!
But it’s best to follow a few tips.
Post regularly:
- don’t post 10 photos a day if they don’t all have a meaning, a use
- but don’t post once a month because this publication can easily slip through the cracks
- give a meaning to your posts with a relevant description, identify the people on the photos, add a place …
- a water sport professional comes to practice on your spot! Ask his permission to share this with your community. By identifying him, your post will also appear on his page and allow his subscribers to see YOUR page!
- Share relevant publications, a photo on which your sign is identified? an article that talks about you? an article that can interest your community (written by Spotyride for example)
Post photos and videos that look like you:
Be yourself in order to give a real meaning to your posts that will make your subscribers want to come and ride with you!
Try to stand out in every post to attract viewers more than others!
Thousands of posts are published every day on Facebook, if yours looks like all the others, why would anyone want to linger?
You need a signature, a feed (see previous articles), a shocking sentence… Keep your page alive: pin the posts that you think are most important or most successful, change them regularly. Subscribers will take more time on your page if they notice changes (except for the profile picture and/or cover picture which you should keep in your image constantly)
Regarding hashtags, I refer you to my previous articles. For those who have read them of course, I hope you are up to speed! If you need more precision, don’t hesitate to tell us in comments.
You need originality and above all proximity with your community that few brands manage to preserve.

Facebook also has a messaging system called “Messenger” which has been widely used since its inception, both by professionals and users.
Take the time to answer your messages. If a subscriber asks you a question about you, it’s because they’re potentially interested, so don’t let it slip away!
Join groups where you belong.
e.g. You are a wakeboard shop? Join the federation’s page: all the people who have joined this group, practice or like this sport.
They will be able to see your page and consequently your shop. You will be able to create interactions directly with all this group which can only increase your visibility!
Groups allow you to target a specific clientele!
If you prefer, you can also interact with your community through your page (doing both seems to be the best option). To optimize responses, the interaction must be quick and clear.
- A “do you want to see our latest collection” “yes or no” poll people vote and it only takes them a few seconds.
- A short question they can answer in comments.
- Propose contests to motivate them to share, you will “lose” the sale of this/these product(s) but will gain a lot of visibility (ex: “share, identify 2 friends in comment and try to win 1 hour of free paddle”).
Invite all your subscribers to participate in an event:
You can link this event to your dedicated page on Spotyride so that subscribers have direct access to your services and therefore to your Spotyride page.
This is also a way to create interactions, e.g.: you organize a canoe race open to everyone? share it with your community! You can also create virtual events “Thursday 31st, we will be live on Instagram/Facebook at 7pm” “Wednesday 3rd we are releasing a video on youtube, be ready”
We want to get people to react, to like, to participate, to share!
To follow your evolution throughout the “Facebook” journey you have a very complete statistical tool that will tell you if your posts and others like, if you should continue in this way or redirect you in terms of communication.
With many indicators see your number of likes, the increase of subscribers, the reach of the post, the time lapse (to help you determine the time to post).

- Stories are now possible on Facebook, there are some features but if you like to post stories I advise you more Instagram . You can still post stories if you want but never too many.
- Facebook has recently set up a Marketplace, which is practical although not complete enough (you can’t pay online etc..). You can however create a “showcase” of your items on Facebook by linking them to your Spotyride shop which is very easy to use and has secure online payment.
- the “watch” category which groups videos in a separate news feed from the photo posts.

All posts from your subscriptions and/or friends are on this page, as well as stories. You can share a post on the news feed at any time.
In this category receive your friend requests and search for people.
As I explained above, these are the “Watchs”, the post videos.
Here the marketplace, which works like an online shop window, practical for individuals but little for professionals.
Likes, shares, subscriptions, comments, logins and even birthdays. Here are listed all the notifications that may interest you.
The menu is your Facebook map, you can also access the settings and your other accounts (if you have any).
