During one month* Spotyride conducted a study with its community to highlight the expectations and desires of the French with regard to boating with a focus on diving into travel plans.
The panel questioned in our study is mainly composed of men (57.2%) couple with children then women (42.8%) without children. We find a strong representation of 35-54 years old (49.4%).

Digital at the center of reservations
Mostly user of Apple’s operating system (62% ), the panel is geared towards technology.
9 out of ten people use their smartphone on a daily basis compared to 7 out of ten for the computer. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and finally LinkedIn are the social networks used by 48% of divers to find their vacation destination. They are mostly under 34 or over 45, in a couple with children or without children.
Last-minute reservations are a key asset
With the contextual upheavals due to Covid-19 the French no longer plan:

The ambient instability of the situation pushes them to act spontaneously. For over 45s, it is becoming essential to be able to make reservations via a mobile application directly at the vacation spot. It is no longer a question of planning but of having a quick and direct response with 37.5% of the panel being organized during the stay.
Boating in its diversity
Nautical sports are very popular with curious and multi-disciplinary French people.
They like to combine sports, nearly eight out of ten people want to try a new activity. 23% of divers also practice surfing and 16% sail. On our entire panel, the French want test Kitesurfing, Surfing and Diving. Varied sports that attract even beginners.
Family at the heart of travel
The French organize their holidays at the last minute, plan their activities by feeling and adapt to the situation. For couples with children, it is essential to find activities to occupy them. Being able to do activities as a family in order to share a moment together is important. There are more and more nautical activities aimed at a young audience: baby-skiing, aquapark, pedalo…
Sporty adventurers discovering
Among the respondents to the study, a good part corresponds to the adventurous sportsman. A monotonous life behind his desk on a daily basis, he nevertheless keeps a regular sporting activity and waits for the holidays to surpass himself. The adventurer travels on a whim to disconnect and get away from it all. Turned to the web and he is used to booking his activities online and wants it to go quickly.
Reconnect with nature and your loved ones
The student, committed and sociable profile completes our panel. He or she wants to recharge both physically and mentally. Avid for activities close to nature and culture, he wants to enjoy his holidays at a lower cost. Their purchasing behavior is again very spontaneous, on the lookout for an activity to be carried out at the right time. One finds in the privileged activities the canoe or the rafting.
